THE PROCESS
Define the Project.
- What exactly would you like us to produce?
- In what medium will it be produced, and what are the final dimensions and resolution needed for that medium? (I.E., "It's a poster to be printed at my local shop on in color on 11X17 sheets of paper" or "It's a custom die-cut sticker on vinyl with an offset ink process and Pantone colors" or "It's a web advertisement banner at 20x100 px and will never be used for anything else" or similar. We can work with you on defining this, depending on the desired product.
- What exact text, if any, should appear on the final product? What relative sizes do you prefer on different lines of text--what information should be emphasized over other information?
- What "look" or feel do you need--playful and kid-friendly? Classic and elegant? Outdoorsy? Edgy? Do you have examples of the kind of style you like for this project?
- Do you have any graphics that you would like to provide, either to insert as-is or to use as reference for the artwork?
- What is the deadline?
- What is your approximate budget?
Estimate and Contract.
Based on the information provided above, we will provide you with a cost estimate. This cost estimate includes an initial draft, one set of client-generated changes to that draft, and any edits needed because of our errors. It also includes the provision of the final product in whatever form is agreed upon (electronic delivery, paper product, etc).
First Draft.
First draft of product is provided to client according to contract specifications and discussion. This draft will probably be lower-resolution or a sketch, depending on the medium of the project.
Edits.
All persons involved in the project agree upon changes to the draft, and provide us with a single communication with those changes.
Final Draft.
Requested changes are made, and a final draft of the product provided in the form(s) agreed upon.
Further changes.
Should the client require further changes after the first round, we charge for those changes at an hourly rate. We will notify the client of this rate and the approximate time involved when the changes are requested.
Final Invoice.
When the job is complete, we will invoice the client with final costs. Any other payment arrangement (i.e. partial payments for longer or multi-step jobs) will be agreed upon in advance.
Please contact us if you'd like to commission work!
